Dog rescued after cliff plunge on Jurassic Coast

Storm, a lurcher-collie cross, was pulled to safety after she fell on to a ledge 20m (66ft) below the cliff top

A dog has been pulled to safety by firefighters after plunging off a cliff on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast.

Crews were called to the cliff top east of Seatown on Tuesday afternoon after lurcher-collie cross Storm went over the edge and ended up stranded on a ledge about 20m (66ft) down.

A firefighter was lowered down and placed the four-legged friend in a rescue bag before lifting her back up to be reunited with her owners. 

The fire service have reminded owners “no matter how well trained your pet is” to keep dogs on a lead when walking along cliff paths.
